The SultanShop : Vintage Suzanis

My Etsy browsing continues this weekend :) The design world continues to be enamored with Suzani's and I am no exception :) I just spotted this vintage Suzani's at the SultanShop. I actually liked quite a few of them. They are different from the usual patterns and colors that one usually gets to see. A genuine Suzani is an expensive purchase in my opinion. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that quite a few of the Suzani's at this store are under $100. Now, that is a good price for a Suzani!

Visit the SultanShop and prepare to get tempted. The store ships worldwide from Uzbekistan. Etsy is a fun place to browse and shop without getting up from the couch :)

Eclectic Inspiration: A Home on the Adriatic Coast

Hello there! Pure eye candy is what this home brings to the table. This is a sunny bungalow on the Adriatic coast. The home belongs to London-based fashion designer Liza Bruce and her husband, artist Nicholas Alvis Vega.

When globe trotters create a home it comes as no surprise that they would have Moroccan wood screens surround a veranda! The ikat pillows from Uzbekistan add to the charm and the laid back vibe......sigh! What's not to love about that!

Adding Some Bling and Color

Monday morning has arrived and I am grinning. The reason...... my weekend was dreary, it rained incessantly and it was cold. The unexpected sunshine this morning is making me sing a happy tune. Its still pretty cold here so playing Holi might be hard today. I am disappointed but to cheer me up I decided to add a splash of color and bling to my living room decor :)

The easiest way to do that is fresh flowers and bright and bold cushions. Since it is Holi, I also added some extra bling :)

Here's wishing you a lovely week ahead. I am sharing some pictures from this morning......yes there is a lot of color and bling in my world today:)

Holi The Festival of Colors

It is that time of the year again......Holi, the Festival of Colors is here :) When I was younger and living in India, Holi was all about revelry and the onslaught of colors. The day where you get to smear color on your friends and family :) It is a fun and joyous event.

The celebrations last from morning till night. Today it is a lot different and relatively subdued. What I miss the most is my mom's fabulous cooking and the gifts we got from my grandmother. I long for those carefree days! I distinctly remember that I had colored nails for almost a week after Holi! I tend to get rather aggressive with the colors much to my friends dismay :)

For Holi, I plan to cook for my family, smear them with a wee bit of color and keep the traditions alive :) A very Happy Holi to all those who are celebrating!!

It is Friday evening.......my favorite time of the week :) The weekend looms large with endless possibilities. Okay I tend to romanticize things once in a while :)I have a pretty regular weekend coming up with endless tasks but who cares.....for now I can day dream :)

This is the home of Aldo Chaparro an artist based in Mexico city. Now this would be the perfect space to spend a weekend afternoon. Endless chai, books, friends, family and endless chatter......or if you prefer solitude, a paintbrush or some poetry........whatever your heart desire. As for me, I am loving this look today!!

Have a beautiful weekend! You can view the entire house here.

Springtime Decor!

I love this poem....always have :)

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze......
William Wordsworth!

March is here and we are inching towards springtime. I can see tiny cherry blossoms on the trees around me. I cannot wait to see them in all their glory. I see more of the sun these days and less of rain :) The days seems to stretch a tad bit longer......yay :) All in all it is my favorite time of the year!

Today, I felt like sharing a few delightful spaces that I have been drawn to recently.  I like how fresh and pretty they look......almost the perfect inspiration for Spring!

Love the kilim pillows and the pop of yellow!

The lovely pink hues....

The perfect Spring soiree....

The drama in this room just has to be noticed :)

Here's wishing you a beautiful day!

Weekend Moments and Instagram

Hi there and a Happy New Week to you. I would like to greet you with a hot cup of tea :) I love everything about this image. From the heart, to the tea set to that book :) My weekend was rather eventful. My little one has been down with a bad cold that refuses to go away. She is five and keeps us on our toes :) I worked on my fist DIY project with hubby! We actually managed to change the upholstery of the breakfast nook dining chairs. I know this may not be such a big deal for you DIY Divas out there but for me it was, and it felt great :) I shall share the pictures soon.

Now back to this pretty cup of tea :)

To humor my little one we drove 20 minutes from home to see this....... She loves ferry boats and the water. It was a cloudy day and I took this picture from my phone! We drove there and back and she was all smiles :)

Sunday breakfast is a big deal in my house. Always has been since I was a child in my parents home. Today, we sat around the table and chatted for hours. It was the best part of the day listening to my children chatter incessantly :)

By the way I am now very active on Instagram and would love for you to join me. Follow My Dream Canvas on Instagram by clicking HERE!!

Have a super wonderful week!

Happy March and MDC Turns Five!!

Hello there! It is March already and my favorite time of the year. At my Casa we get to celebrate two birthdays this month :)  My Dream Canvas turns 5 this month and I get to celebrate my birthday as well :) I have a list of fun stuff lined up for this month including a Giveaway!!!

My Dream Canvas is a dream come true for me and thank you each and every one of you for sharing this dream with me!! The image below is my favorite photograph. I take a gazillion pictures almost everyday but this one tops my list. I took this picture on a rainy day at the water temple in Bali. The sketch effect of course is by the very addictive Waterlogue app. I have this photograph framed and hung above my fireplace at home :)

Here's to a new week and exciting times on My Dream Canvas!
