Eclectic Inspiration: A Home on the Adriatic Coast

Hello there! Pure eye candy is what this home brings to the table. This is a sunny bungalow on the Adriatic coast. The home belongs to London-based fashion designer Liza Bruce and her husband, artist Nicholas Alvis Vega.

When globe trotters create a home it comes as no surprise that they would have Moroccan wood screens surround a veranda! The ikat pillows from Uzbekistan add to the charm and the laid back vibe......sigh! What's not to love about that!

Springtime Decor!

I love this poem....always have :)

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze......
William Wordsworth!

March is here and we are inching towards springtime. I can see tiny cherry blossoms on the trees around me. I cannot wait to see them in all their glory. I see more of the sun these days and less of rain :) The days seems to stretch a tad bit longer......yay :) All in all it is my favorite time of the year!

Today, I felt like sharing a few delightful spaces that I have been drawn to recently.  I like how fresh and pretty they look......almost the perfect inspiration for Spring!

Love the kilim pillows and the pop of yellow!

The lovely pink hues....

The perfect Spring soiree....

The drama in this room just has to be noticed :)

Here's wishing you a beautiful day!

Pretty Home in Costa Brava

I have an ongoing love affair with Spanish interiors especially those featured in El Mueble. This stunning home with fabulous views in Costa Brava takes my breath away. After a complete makeover an unappealing home on a pretty hillside has been turned into a light filled elegant home.

My days are filled with endless rain these days. I long for spring and sunshine. This home is the perfect inspiration for spring. You can click here to view pictures of the entire home!

Good Morning!

Sometimes the simplest thing can bring a smile to your face. It is dull and gloomy where I am..... and I woke up feeling a wee bit under the weather. However a quick look at El Mueble always manages to cheer me up :) This lovely image has helped kick start my day!

I love everything about it. The way its been styled and composed to the beautiful sunlight filtering through.......and of course the pretty box.....lovely!!

A Farmhouse in Spain

We are back in Spain :) Yes! I am obsessed. This is a farmhouse dating back to the 12th century. The rehabilitation began two decades ago in the Spring of 1992. Today the owners enjoy modern conveniences in a traditional setting. A home that has been beautifully and elegantly restored and has me sighing :)

What's your favorite element in this home? My list is endless Leave a comment and let me know?

I want that rug!!!

Classy in my opinion..........

Entertaining in Style

Wow! That's the word that came to my mind when I saw this table layout. Its sophisticated yet simple. It has a look that has me completely inspired. I do like setting a nice table when I have a party. Of course, its never this fancy or pretty but I do try :) I am completely in love with the idea of using corks as a base for the dish......almost like a trivet! Very innovative don't you think? I could easily collect corks in large numbers.........we are all big wine drinkers in my family :)

Here's wishing you a great week ahead. See you around :)

Here is the rest of the layout....

If only my food looked as good as this :)

Hello September

I had a crazy morning, one kid packed off to Pre-K and the other to Third Grade. The alarm was a complete shock to my system. Lunch boxes to be found, backpacks that were "fab" last year are no longer "cool" this year :) There was last minute shopping for school supplies.....no matter how much I plan, there is something missing!! The endless car line this morning will take some getting used to!! I shall miss my little babies and their incessant chatter :) Thankfully my parents are here so the house does not feel empty!

The picture above is from this weekend. We took the kids to see these two historic ships - including one used in the filming of "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl". I have to say that I enjoyed it as much as my kids :)

I spotted this lovely room in El Mueble and had to share it with you. I love the light and the flowers........it looks so warm and inviting.

Here's wishing you a beautiful week ahead.........

Verandah Love

I have a thing for Verandahs. I would love to have a house which has a verandah wrapped around it :) A place to spend time with family, entertain friends, watch the sunrise, hear the birds chirping, read the newspaper, admire the sunset, enjoy the pitter-patter of rain, count the stars.....I could go on and on :)

A few of the houses I lived in had verandahs and so did my Grandmothers home. These two images evoke some wonderful memories. I have not been regular with blogging this week, its something that I hope to rectify soon. I have had a crazy few days and I am exhausted. Sometimes its nice to step away and come back rejuvenated.

Keep on smiling and see you around :)

My Room Crush This Week

While I share many images on MDC.......some of them completely steal my heart :) From now on every week I plan to share my "Room Crush" with you.

My room crush this week is this home based in Spain. The living room with it myriad hues and the vintage textiles take my breath away! The rustic chic style really appeals to me! I particularly like the way the coffee table book is displayed. It brings back a lovely memory........of my Grandmother reading the Mahabharata to me. The book was placed in a similar manner on her bed while I sat next to her and she explained the story to me. The book was in Bengali and she would translate it for me. The book had beautiful pictures in it and I would love going through them :) Some childhood memories stay in your mind forever and this is one of the special ones :)

I could spend a lifetime sitting by this window and reading books! The floor cushions are so striking and make a statement. Do drop me a line and let me know if you like these rooms and why? Happy Friday my friends!!

A Home in New South Wales

This country home in the highlands of New South Wales really appeals to me! I love the effortless style, the warmth and the look of every corner of this home! The art on the wall in the first picture are illustrations that were drawn by a school friend of the owner's sister nearly 35 years ago.

I love restorations and when it all comes together like this......its my kind of perfect:)

Every corner of this home has a story to tell....... and it reminds me of my favorite design quote" I don’t see boundaries between styles, such as modern or contemporary. I’ve collected each piece from a different experience or period of my life." —Fashion Designer Carlos Miele

Here's wishing you a beautiful day!

A Home In Malaga

This home in Malaga intrigues me with its display of lively eclecticism. A home in my opinion is like a summary of experiences. For me my home reflects my personal taste and my travels.

This holiday retreat in Spain strikes a chord with me. I like the presence of color and textiles. The owner is clearly passionate about textiles.......the carpets are from Morocco, the cushions, blankets and quilts are from Asia. The suzani's and the kilims pop against the neutral canvas and makes the rooms look bright, fresh and warm!

This home has helped shake off my Monday blues. I hope it does the same for you :)

A Cosy Nook

There are days when you just want to curl up in the corner with a book and a cup of steaming chai. This corner would be the perfect place to do that :) I love the pillows, the light streaming in and the fresh flowers!!

How are you doing??

Saturday Love : A Home in Ibiza

I am completely bowled over by the homes featured in the Spanish magazine El Mueble. Every time I browse their site, I fall in love all over again :) This beautiful home in Ibiza with the striking blue accents is the perfect definition of a summer home!

These are  the perfect images to feast your eyes on and indulge in a bit of day dreaming. If I had a home by the sea.....I would be delighted to have it look like this :)

Here's wishing you a gorgeous weekend!!

A Home In Madrid

Good morning! I stumbled upon a delightful home in Madrid today. This home belongs to Mabel Sanz who is a designer by profession. Mabel designs the most exquisite custom hats. Her style is personal and she says that her home is an extension of herself.  I love it. Its bright, bold and beautiful and makes a statement!
