Fabulous Finds " Furbish Studio"

I recently stumbled upon a treasure chest of goodies. A store in Raleigh, North Carolina called Furbish Studio. The owner of this store is Jamie Meares. Meares is a sought-after trendsetter, designer, and blogger. In 2009, as an extension of her popular lifestyle blog called I Suwannee, Meares opened Furbish Studio.

"Furbish offers a curated collection of fabulous finds for the home, including unique pieces of furniture, both old and new, inspired lighting, and modern artwork. The store is stocked with textiles in vibrant patterns and bold combinations, including bedding, pillows, rugs and designer fabrics. Coveted accessories and one-of-a-kind treasures inspire visitors to decorate their homes with easygoing flair."

Her blog and the shop are an absolute delight! I could spend hours at this store and hope to see it in person someday. I lived in Cary which is very close to Raleigh, after I got married. We do make trips back there every once in a while! For now, I am happy to browse the site online and so should you :) They also ship.....yay!!!

Sigh....remember my plan of owning my own little store with trinkets from around the world. Well.....her site makes me dream again :) I shall have a book store and a cafe as well :) Bye for now as I am off to daydream.........

By the way, this post is long has a lot of drool worthy pictures :) Pick your favorite and let me know?

A Very Cool Ipad Stand :)

I really like this very cool, elegant and stylish Ipad stand I found on VivaTerra today! This stand is hand-carved from sustainable sheesham wood by master artisans in India. The stand displays the beauty of floral mandala woodwork while displaying recipes - either on the Ipad or in a cookbook. What's not to love about that ? These items are created in collaboration with a non- profit fair-trade organization that helps impoverished, often physically handicapped carvers.

Do you like it ??

An Exciting November and Ideas For Holiday Entertaining

Wow, November is here!!! This year has gone by in a whizz. Temperatures are falling and the leaves are silently falling around me. Winter beckons.....

This is my backyard just before the rain and wind arrived. I guess its time for change! The backyard has a carpet of leaves but the tree is almost bare! I really enjoyed Fall this year. Winter promises to be fun too! I am off to India in a few weeks. I can hardly wait :)

I shall miss this sight.....

While browsing on the web, I stumbled upon these beautifully illustrated and hand drawn decal plates by Shanna Murray! They are available at West Elm. I am completely in love with them :) They look perfect for some Holiday entertaining, don't you think? The look is playful, rustic and elegant!

Urban Outfitters has an interesting collection of Duvet covers that seem perfect for Fall and Winter. Bright and Bohemian, these two covers recently caught my fancy. I am surrounded by Fog and cold weather these days..... and maybe that is why I am leaning towards this look :)

Festive Countdown and Shopping Finds : Indianroots.com

I promised you a colorful countdown to the festival season on My Dream Canvas and here is the first of many festive themed posts :) Indianroots.com is an NDTV venture which has recently caught my eye. To quote from their website " Indianroots delivers heritage and style like never before, we are a selectively curated marketplace where global Indians can come together to shop, share and fall in love with the best ethnic products our country has to offer "

I miss India terribly during the festive season. Diwali is my absolute favorite time of the year to be in Delhi. I shall unfortunately be missing it by a few weeks this year. I have a trip planned in November and I can hardly wait!

Here's a glimpse into the collection at Indianroots. I have picked out a few items from the store that I believe would be the perfect addition to any festive decor.

Have fun browsing their entire collection. I sure did :)

Humorous Vintage Coasters

A Happy New Week to you!! I got off a plane last Sunday and fell sick. I have had a nasty bout of the flu and now so does my four year old. Its been a week of the house being in a state of complete disarray. A lot of TV watching, sleeping and take-out food. I am ready for a change but this nasty bug refuses to go away. The few hours that I feel sane I spend right here :) Blogging relaxes me like nothing else!

Trips are all about new places and new memories. While I did not shop a lot in the UK, I did pick up a few delightful things!! These vintage coasters to name a few. Aren't they lovely :) I got them on a whirlwind day trip to Bath.

I believe that souvenirs from trips need not be expensive. However, they should make you smile and remind you of the fun times gone by!! What are some of the fun souvenirs you have picked up during your travels? I would love to know :)

Have a great week!!

A New Year Resolution For My Home

I am happiest when I spend time with my camera. In the middle of a crazy day I love to stop for a few minutes to take pictures. It acts as an instant stress buster. A cup of tea completes the picture:-) I am getting really tired of the winter and the dark gloomy days which is typical for this time of the year. Since I can't do a whole lot outside, I am trying to focus on things that I have been ignoring on the home front. My home is being cleaned out! I  have already made three trips to Goodwill last week to donate stuff. I am attacking every nook and cranny of the house and trying to get rid of things that we no longer need. I have a long way to go, but at least it is a start. I feel a great sense of achievement once I am back after dropping off the stuff. It makes me happy to be able to give away things to people who might need it more.

De- cluttering the house is an ongoing process for me. However, this year it is part of my New Year resolution. I hope I can keep this going for a while :) Do you have any tips to share about this process? I really envy those people who are disciplined and de- clutter on a regular basis.

This is a picture of my Turkish kettle. It is from the store called Loaded Trunk and I have blogged about them here and here!

Cutting Chai By Sahana Singh

I have admired Sahana's style since the first time I read her blog. Today, I am happy to share her latest venture her on My Dream Canvas. Sahana Singh lives in Mumbai, India and blogs at Home Is Where The Art Is. Sahana is a self-taught furniture designer, interior decorator, photographer, painter, blogger, foodie and travel junkie. A gal after my own heart :)

Sahana has recently launched a delightful range of hand painted glass items.
Her products are quirky and fun and in my opinion an absolute treat. I can barely wait to get my hands on them :)  I adore her cutting chai series which is basically a
set of six glasses in different colours, stacked in caddies that are used to
serve tea.
The paint
she uses is wash proof and food safe. In case you are wondering "chai" is the Indian word for tea :)

She has a lot more in store for us including her new range of rainbow bottles. Visit her Facebook page to view her products and to place your order. Sahana currently ships within India. I am hoping that by popular demand she will begin international shipping as well :)

All the best Sahana!

Visit Home Is Where The Art Is and her Facebook page for more information.

A Treasure From the Oregon Coast In My Home

When I come across a treasure at a place where I least expect to find one, it becomes even more exciting :)
Do you feel that way too? I made a quick trip to the Oregon coast in December. The picturesque beach towns were the perfect places for strolling. It was cold and windy. However, I could not resist the allure of the interesting stores in Newport, Oregon.

A quest for a cup of coffee led me to a store called Jovi in the center of the historic area of Nye Beach. I had no idea what was inside but an interesting statue outside the store piqued my curiosity :) The coffee shop was right next door, but all was forgotten :) Jovi was a store crammed with accessories and artifacts from around the world. There were beautiful linens, jewelery, furniture, and so much more. I do wish that I had pictures of the store to share with you all. Perhaps, I need to plan a trip back just to get some pictures for you all :)

From the minute I walked into the store, my eyes were fixated on this beautifully carved statue from Cambodia. I loved the serene expression and the intricate carving. The owner of the store told me that they travel a lot and collect artifacts from different parts of the world. She had recently returned from Bali where she had spent some time taking dance lessons. Fascinating life in my opinion!!

This statue is made of stone and extremely heavy. While Cambodia is definitely on my list of places to visit, bringing back a statue like this will not be an easy task :)  I know I am rambling, but I am thrilled with my statue from the beach.

Owning a store on the beach filled with curiosities from around the world, would be a dream come true for me! I would combine the store with a book shop and a cafe and I would be set for life :)
