Bedroom Crush

Spring is in the air. Everything looks bright and colorful.  Incorporating a fresh look into the decor at home seems like a good way to welcome the new season. For me, this bedroom featured in El Meuble looks absolutely perfect for Spring. It is pretty, its feminine, it is bright and beautiful...... and yet has that understated elegance that I so love!!





Of course the dash of turquoise just steals my heart :) If you were to give your bedroom a makeover, what are the colors you would use??

A Shoe Factory Turned Haven

These images have sat in my inspiration folder for the longest time. I am surprised I have not shared it with you till today! This urban loft in London has that vintage, distressed, casual chic look that I love. It has personality and charm and looks so inviting. I can picture myself writing a book here, painting a masterpiece ( yes I daydream) or simply hanging out with family and friends :)

A Home in South Africa

My home crush for today is this lovely property in Cape Town, South Africa. The best way to describe this home is by the owners themselves. In their own words, the home is " slightly monastery”, wide spaces, a disciplined look with hints of sentimental clutter".

"Sentimental clutter" is such a delightful way to describe the things in your home! I can completely relate to it. Almost everything I own has some history or sentimentality attached to it.





I believe that the sentiments associated with the things you own determines its value............... and that is what makes it special. Sometimes, the most expensive things can mean far less, than that special treasure that has a story that goes with it :) Don't you agree?

Tea Cup Crush

I have fallen for the Giardino mugs and cups at Rosanna Inc. They are so pretty!! We are experiencing Fall like weather in my part of the world. Rain, wind, a bit of sunshine........... and there is a hint of gold in the trees! This image has inspired me to go and brew a cup of Chamomile tea :)



Rosanna Bowles, the founder of Rosanna Inc is local to Seattle.  They have a warehouse an hours drive from my house. I am always getting tempted to stop by :)

An Eclectic Home in Australia

I spotted this charming, colorful and eclectic home via The Design Files. Click here to read more about this very talented textile artist and her family living in Fremantle, Australia. 

I attended a conference in Perth many years ago and made a day trip to Fremantle from there. I remember it as a very quaint town by the sea! Its funny how suddenly you get reminded of a happy time by just reading a name or seeing a picture :)

Fabulous Finds Manuel Canovas

I simply had to share these gorgeous textiles as part of my "Fabulous Finds" series for this week. This exquisite collection is part of the brand by Manuel Canovas. Manuel is a Frenchman who started his fabric company 50 years ago. His fabrics are inspired by his travels which he presents with a distinct French style!



Their 2013 collection has been inspired by Rajasthan's bright, bold and vibrant colors and patterns. As you can see I am clearly smitten :)

Balcony Love and A Pretty Bedroom

I have a soft spot for balconies and so when I found this one, I just had to share it with you:) Perhaps, its because I grew up in India. Many of the older homes there had balconies or verandas. As an army kid I moved around constantly. One of our homes had a long veranda wrapped around the front of the house. I was eleven at that time.I remember the fun my brother and I had running from one end to the other :) Of course, If I had something like that today.....I would go crazy decorating it :)



Both the homes featured here today are based in Melbourne, Australia. Melbourne is a very special city for me with fantastic memories. I lived there for 2 weeks in my early twenties. I was there on work and fell in love with the city. I had left home for the first time for more than a few days. I lived on my own, bought groceries, tried to cook  and failed miserably :) It was my first grown up experience :) It was a special time.......

This is another home located in Melbourne. I think the bedroom is really pretty. The bedspread caught my eye. You can probably guess why :) I like how the rest of the room is simple and clutter free. This highlights the beauty of the bed. You can view pictures of the entire home  here.

I would be happy and gleeful if I had a small nook like this to unwind. A little corner to spend time with my books, a cup of tea and My Dream Canvas :)

With spring at my doorstep, the desire to spend time outdoors is so tempting!!

A Pretty Home in Greece

As we slowly inch our way towards summer, I cannot help but dream of the sea. I think of cobalt blue seas, white washed villages, cascading bougainvilleas and I am in heaven. This home in Greece calls out to me. I am drawn to its laid back vibe and the the splash of turquoise and green. It holds a promise of a beautiful summer.

Some of the most beautiful houses in my opinion, are the ones that do not try to hard and do not seem too contrived!!

Cutting Chai By Sahana Singh

I have admired Sahana's style since the first time I read her blog. Today, I am happy to share her latest venture her on My Dream Canvas. Sahana Singh lives in Mumbai, India and blogs at Home Is Where The Art Is. Sahana is a self-taught furniture designer, interior decorator, photographer, painter, blogger, foodie and travel junkie. A gal after my own heart :)




Sahana has recently launched a delightful range of hand painted glass items.
Her products are quirky and fun and in my opinion an absolute treat. I can barely wait to get my hands on them :)  I adore her cutting chai series which is basically a  set of six glasses in different colours, stacked in caddies that are used to
serve tea.
The paint she uses is wash proof and food safe. In case you are wondering "chai" is the Indian word for tea :)

Heading Outdoors This Monday

Good Morning. Almost everyone at the MDC Casa is recovering from the flu. It has not been fun!! However, this beautiful image makes me think of Spring and of heading outdoors.

 

This is my kind of an outdoor haven. I would never want to leave :) Here's wishing you a great week ahead.

Textura Interiors is a company based out of Barcelona, Spain. I really like the images from their catalogue.  The warm tones, the twinkling lights, give a feeling of warmth and comfort that I am craving today :)



It is a cold day today  I wish the holidays were not ending. Everybody gets back to work and school tomorrow and I am suffering from holiday blues (: I would love to relax at home a wee bit longer, but I guess it is time to get back to the grind!

A Chalet In The Alps!

The incredible Chalet Trois Couronnes is breathtaking! This property was completed in 2012 and is one of the most luxurious properties in the Alps!

This is what dreams are made of I guess :) The perfect winter getaway!! 



The chalet has a spa facility with incredible views of the surrounding mountains. The spa has a pool, relaxation area, hammam, sauna and outdoor Jacuzzi!

Barn Living in Gotland, Sweden

This eclectic barn is the home of cinematographer Bengan Widell. The barn is located in Gotland, Sweden. I was curious to know more about Gotland so I researched it a little bit :) Gotland is the largest island in Sweden and also the largest in the Baltic Sea.
