Lucky Tea Stall, Old City Ahmedabad

Diagonally opposite the House of MG in Ahmedabad, across the busy road is Lucky Tea Stall.
enjoying the maska bun jam...

Gujaratis take their cup of tea quite seriously and their saucers too.
We observed that even the hole-in-the-wall tea stalls served their tea in a cup & saucer. Piping hot tea would be poured into saucer, blown, made into a drinkable temperature and then sipped.

Lucky Tea Stall too served their tea in floral-print cup and saucer.
lucky cups in lucky tea stall..

This popular tea stall was apparently the favourite haunt of eminent painter M.F. Hussain.
at the tea stall...

The speciality here is the masala tea & maska (butter) bun jam.

We opted for marie biscuits to dunk in our tea...

We sat on a table next to two beautifully decorated Muslim tombs inside the stall enjoying the camaraderie of past and present lovers of chai:-)

carpenters and the rain...

* I am not talking about me with a cup of chai on a rainy day with 'The Carpenters' singing rainy days and mondays always get me down... well, actually they do:-(
* I am talking about the kinds armed with saws, polish, hammer, nails...

* the ones for whom we wait with bated breath.
* the ones who tranform our homes into a dream.
* scrap, scrub, hammer, hammer, bang, bang....music to my ears.
* but, hey wait...did I hear pitter-patter too?

* "Amma, polish can't be done, no sun, won't dry"
* my dreams get postponed to another weekend.
* I grab my camera and shoot the weapons abandoned due to the rains.
* BTW, blocks of wood make interesting coasters;-)
